With roots in jazz and classical music, Frerick has developed into a versatile musician. In addition to his own compositions, he is also active as a keyboardist for the Dutch indie-pop band Handsome Poets (known for the hits Sky On Fire, Dance The War is Over). But with his solo work, he follows a completely different path. Constantly experimenting, he has in recent years discovered his own voice by blending elements of film music, classical music, and pop/indie, deliberately seeking out the melancholy of the piano. In doing so, he creates his own world in which he and his millions of listeners worldwide can escape the chaos of everyday life. His music is now featured in the most popular Spotify and Apple Music playlists for instrumental piano, was used in the short animated film L'Étranger, and was recently curated on the BBC’s classical channel by none other than Downton Abbey actress Michelle Dockery. The platform 3voor12 wrote with great praise about his work, naming him one of the big surprises of The Hague’s music scene in 2023 and describing his music as a moment where anyone can fall into a state of hyperfocus. Live from the Barthkapel in The Hague (NL) Frerick den Haan plays the premier of Rêverie du Soir (Evening Contemplation) from his latest EP Les Heures du Jour (Four Times of the Day). Inspired by the poster tetralogy by Alphonse Mucha and musically influenced by the great impressionist Maurice Ravel, den Haan combines both arts into new music.
